PROSSER The second public hearing for the proposed budget for 2018 will be on the agenda when a special City Council meeting takes place at 7 p.m. Tuesday at council chambers, 601 7th St.
Other items on the agenda include the setting of property taxes for 2018.
There will be a discussion of a 2 percent cost of living increase for non-represented employees.
There will be another public hearing dealing with the taxing rate for the Transportation Benefit District.
Council will consider an ordinance to amend the comprehensive solid waste collection agreement with Basin Disposal and authorize the mayor to sign the contract.
Another item the council will consider is the police department-facilities discussion. There are two major questions involved.
The first asks if it remains the council’s direction to staff for the city to pursue a new police department facility?
The second question, if the answer to the first is yes, should a new city hall be combined with a new police department?
The meeting will open with the pledge of allegiance by Scout Troop 641 and a Veterans Day proclamation.
