PROSSER Get ready to sample D’s Wicked Cider apple cider or a little Whitstran Brewery’s Highlander Ale at the third annual Prosser Beer and Whiskey Festival.
The event, from 4-10 p.m. on Saturday in the heart of wine country may seem out of place during Catch the Crush weekend.
But it is definitely not, according to organizers.
The Lower Valley is fast becoming a haven for local beer and whiskey makers, Prosser Chamber spokeswoman Larelle Michener said.
While only six hours long, the festival will feature samples from nine breweries and four regional distilleries, she said.
“We had hoped to have a rib cook-off as part of the festival, but only two competitors signed up and one of those dropped out,” Michener said.
“Festival-goers will still have plenty of food options to pair with their beverage of choice at any of the seven food vendors to be scattered around the festival grounds, she said.
There will be live music provided by the Groove Principals, who played at the Alexander Nicole Winery this summer.
Michener said the festival will feature beer and whiskeys from New Boundary Brewing, Orlison Brewing Co., Hop Nation Brewing, Icicle Brewing Company, Shrub Steppe Smokehouse Brewery, Whip Saw Brewing, Whitstran Brewing, D’s Wicked Cider, Solar Spirits, Whiskey Gap Distillery, Walla Walla Whiskey Co., Ellensburg Distillery and Swede Hill Distilling.
“It’s just one day, but it will be memorable,” she said.
Tickets will be available at the gate and admission includes a logo glass.
