BHS boys split games

The Bickleton boys basketball team had a good start to its weekend, with a 58-46 win over Klickitat on Friday.

Saturday, however, the Yakama Tribal Eagles visited the Pirates and prevailed 69-56.

Last Friday’s win was spurred by the scoring prowess of Nathan Powers, who scored a career high 31 points.

Michael Underwood added seven points to the final tally for the Pirates.

On the boards, Powers and teammate Colt Hansen combined for 14 rebounds.

Saturday, the Pirates were challenged by Yakama Tribal. The Eagles, 5-1 in league play, caused Bickleton to turn the ball over 23 times.

Powers was the leading scorer for the Pirates, with 21 points.

Teammate Troy Roberts also scored in double digits, collecting 13 points.

Underwood was quick to get 13 rebounds and Roberts collected seven loose balls from the backboards.

In spite of the Pirates’ hustle, they couldn’t stop the scoring of Joseph Sanchey of the Eagles, who had a game high 27 points.

Bickleton (2-5, 5-8) will tomorrow (Tuesday) host the Granger JV team.
