BOYS PREP BASKETBALL
BICKLETON – The Bickleton boys basketball team lost its two home games this past weekend to Lyle and Sunnyside Christian.
The Pirates battled to the very end against Lyle last Friday, but succumbed 65-61.
Saturday’s game against Sunnyside Christian was a much tougher loss, 57-32.
Last Friday, Nathan Powers earned a double-double with a team high 27 points and 16 rebounds. He also managed to steal the ball from Lyle twice and provided his teammates with four assists.
Teammate Troy Roberts who also scored in double digits with 11 points.
Kyle Underwood cashed in for another six points and collected seven loose balls from the glass.
But, the effort was for naught as the Cougars prevailed by four points.
This past Saturday, the Pirates were outpaced by the Knights.
Powers was the leading scorer for Bickleton again with 10 points.
His teammates, however, were held to single digit scoring, with Clint Strader doing his best to toss in six points.
Defensively, Strader was able to collect eight rebounds, Michael Underwood had seven and Roberts collected the ball from the glass six times.
The Pirates (1-4, 4-7) will this coming Friday take to the road at Klickitat. The following day (Saturday) they host Yakama Tribal.
