GIRLS PREP BOWLING
YAKIMA – Getting a 323 two-game series from Megan Kinney and a 319 effort from teammate Makayla Moon, the Sunnyside High School girls bowling team clipped the Davis Pirates yesterday at Yakima’s Minda Lanes.
Tuesday’s match actually ended in a 2-2 draw. The Lady Grizzlies picked up the victory, though, based on total pinfall from the four games.
The Pirates, whom Sunnyside defeated back in late November, won the two opening games yesterday by scores of 678-670 and 666-661.
Sunnyside rallied in the two Baker contests, however, pulling out 141-129 and 132-120 victories.
Squared at two games apiece, the outcome went to total pinfall, with the Lady Grizzlies emerging victorious by a 1604-1593 count.
Yesterday’s win boosted Sunnyside’s Columbia Basin Big Nine League record to 3-6. The Lady Grizzlies will take on Wenatchee at Sunnyside’s Valley Lanes this coming Thursday.
In leading Sunnyside to the win over Davis yesterday, the sophomore Kinney tossed games of 176-147. Moon, a senior, rolled games of 165-154.
Sunnyside also received a two-game series of 292 from senior Alyson Spidle (130-162). Also competing for the Lady Grizzlies on Tuesday were juniors Vanessa Rodriguez (109-98) and Kelsee Schaneman (90-100).
The Pirates’ top performer yesterday was Kim Owen (183-110).
