Tribal boys end Bickleton’s season

GOLDENDALE – The Bickleton boys basketball team last night finished its 2014-15 campaign in a loser-out District match-up against Yakama Tribal.

The Pirates lost the chance at a 1B Regional berth in the loser-out affair, succumbing to the Eagles, 66-58.

Bickleton (9-12) didn’t go down without a fight, however.

Nathan Powers of the Pirates led his team with a double-double, scoring 19 points and collecting the ball from the backboards 17 times. He and teammate Troy Roberts each dropped the ball into the basket from treyland twice. Roberts chipped in a total of 10 points for Bickleton.

Yakama Tribal, which will compete for the District title in the Sunnyside High School gym this coming Friday at 6 p.m. against Sunnyside Christian, capitalized on Bickleton’s 10 turnovers and 18 personal fouls.

Those weren’t the only problems for the Pirates. Bickleton hit just 43 percent of its shots from inside the paint and 22 percent of its 3-pointers.
