Robbery suspect sought by police

— Police are looking for a man responsible for holding a resident at gunpoint last Friday and stealing a necklace with a cross pendant.

Officers were provided a description of the man, but were unable to locate him last Friday night.

The alleged robbery occurred just after 9 p.m. at 311 Spruce Ave.

Commander Dan Christman said police are working with the Violent Crimes Task Force to locate and arrest the suspect.

Police also arrested a woman allegedly found in possession of 134 grams of methamphetamine, a gram of heroin, packaging materials and a digital scale last Friday.

Christman said officers responded to a shoplifting report at Walmart at approximately 9:45 p.m. and found the woman there.

He said loss prevention officers at the store told police she was with a man at the store. Both of them attempted to conceal items they were trying to steal, according to police reports.

The man left the merchandise he was carrying behind. He got into a car and left the woman behind, too.

The woman, who has been identified as 28-year-old Stephanie Ann Gronillo of Yakima, has been booked into the local jail on a warrant, using drug paraphernalia and giving a false statement to police.

Police are also investigating the theft of shoes, food, cash registers and $700 from four businesses at 2810 E. Lincoln Avenue.

Christman said the burglaries were discovered early Saturday morning. Burglars broke through the front glass doors or windows of the four businesses, which include Subway, Taylor’d Footwear, Zingis Mongolian BBQ and Shear Designs.

Police do not yet have any suspects.

In other activity this past weekend, police located five .45 caliber shell casings on North 16th Street after a report of gunfire in the area late Friday night.
