PASCO – The Lady Vikes dropped both halves of a doubleheader to Tri-City Prep yesterday, losing the first game 13-3 and the nightcap 7-3.
“Tri-City Prep capitalized on our errors and hit the ball well,” said Mabton Fastpitch Coach Jesus Sustaita. “We are struggling on our batting with only eight hits in both games.”
Mabton pitcher Risa Navarro gave up 25 hits over the two games to the Jaguars and walked four.
Hitting well for the Lady Vikings was Sandra Gonzalez, who earned half her team’s hits by going 4-for-7 on the day.
Also getting hits for Mabton were Cristina Gonzalez, catcher Crystal Cruz, Maricelia Chavez and Stephanie Morfin.
“We just need to continue to work on our hitting during practice,” said Sustaita. “The second game we came out hitting with two hits right off the get-go and scored three runs in the first. After that we were not able to score again.”
Mabton (0-4) has some time off before its next games, a doubleheader against Kiona Benton at home on Saturday, April 12.
