PROSSER – Mark your calendars for a day of airplanes and old-fashioned fun in the sun.
Prosser Airport Days and Fly-in will take place Friday through Sunday, July 18-20.
Pilots and volunteers will begin arriving at the airport on Friday. They will set up camp and enjoy dinner at 6 p.m., featuring hot dogs, hamburgers and all the fixings.
The dinner is free, courtesy of the Port of Benton, for all pilots and their passengers, as well as volunteers.
For dessert, pilots, passengers and volunteers will gather around the campfire for S’mores. It will be a time for “hangar flying” with new and old friends.
The public is welcome to attend Saturday’s events free of charge.
The day’s activities begin with breakfast at 7 a.m. Those attending may purchase eggs, pancakes, sausage and ham, as well as juice and coffee.
There will be a variety of vendor booths open at the event, as well as classes and seminars for those seeking to learn about flying.
A number of aircraft, cars RC airplanes, military vehicles and motorcycles will also be on display throughout the day.
There will be a poker walk through local wineries and gift shops.
For those looking for a treat between meals, there will be a snack shop open at the airport.
The lunch menu on Saturday includes taco salad, hamburgers and jumbo hot dogs. Organizers say all will be available at reasonable prices.
A dinner, including barbecued pulled pork and salmon filets, will also be available for purchase.
The event will conclude on Sunday. The public can enjoy the day’s activities free of charge.
Breakfast can be purchased as early as 7 a.m. The meals will be available until the food is gone.
Friday and Saturday will also feature a raffle for a P-51 Mustang pedal plane built by EAA Chapter 1466, hosts of the weekend event.
The second prize will be a gift basket and third prize will be a $100 gift certificate for Sporty’s Pilot Shop, courtesy of Fair Weather Flyers.
The raffle drawing will take place Saturday evening during dinner.
