David Morton Proebstel, 79, of Sunnyside passed away on Sunday, May 19, 2013, at Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital.
David was born March 14, 1934, in Baker, Ore. to John Kyle and Doris Marjorie Neil Proebstel. He was raised on a wheat and cattle ranch in Haines, Ore. and continued his education with a Bachelor's Degree in business from Oregon State University. He was affiliated with Delta Tau Delta Fraternity.
On June 15, 1957 David married Ann Irene Nero. They lived a few years in Baker at which time a son, Richard Edward was born on Sept. 28, 1963.
The family moved to Sunnyside, where David joined the C.P.A. firm of Boyd Olofson. He became a partner and later formed his own C.P.A. firm with Kirk Michels, known as Proebstel Michels C.P.A.
David was a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Oregon Association of Public Accountants, the State of Washington Certified Public Accountants, the Washington State Agriculture Committee for many years, Sunnyside Presbyterian Church for which he was the treasurer for a few years, the Toastmasters Club, and the Rotary.
He is survived by his wife, Ann; and his son, Richard (Amy), and their daughter, Kailey; siblings, Kristin Boyce of Hugo, Ore. Steven (Carole) of Haines, Ore., and Susan (Mark) Fisher of Portland, Ore; and many nieces and nephews . He will be greatly missed by his family.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Bruce, who died in an airplane crash on Oct. 9, 1979; and his sister, Sandra, who died on May 04, 2013.
Memorial services will be held Wednesday, May 29, 2013, at 11 a.m. at Sunnyside Presbyterian Church in Sunnyside.
