The Christmas Grinch was busy making the rounds on Christmas Day, stealing cars and breaking into homes.
Sunnyside police responded to a car theft from the Waneta Road area early yesterday evening (Wednesday). Witnesses reported the car was occupied by several individuals and had last been seen headed toward Factory Road, off Yakima Valley Highway.
In a second vehicle theft reported on Christmas Day, a mother reported her son had taken the family car without permission. It was later returned.
Sunnyside police also investigated a possible burglary in the 2600 block of Allen Road late Tuesday night. Police arrived to find the front door has been kicked in. The residents were not at home. It is unknown if any items were missing from the home.
Police also investigated four residential alarms and a business alarm during the past 36 hours.
Since Christmas Eve, officers have handled six traffic stops, responded to five reports of suspicious circumstances, two reports of trespassing, three domestic incidents, one disorderly report, one noise complaint and an assault report.
In other activities police provided two agency assists, served three arrest warrants, took one informational call and made a welfare check.
