Sunnyside High School athletes should begin preparing now if they want to be eligible to take part in the first practices of the 2011 fall season.
Clearance and eligibility forms must be filled out and turned in prior to any athlete taking the field or court for workouts.
All of the necessary forms can be picked up from Sunnyside High School ASB Secretary Kelly Story. Because of construction work that is ongoing at SHS, Story's office has been temporarily set up in room 109 at Harrison Middle School. Office hours there, starting next Monday, Aug. 15, will be from 8 a.m. to noon and from 1 to 3:30 p.m.
All clearance and eligibility forms, properly filled out and signed by an athlete's parents, must be returned to Story's office before an SHS student will be allowed to take part in the practice sessions.
The SHS football team will begin practicing on Wednesday, Aug. 17, at 7 a.m.
All other athletic squads...volleyball, girls soccer, cross-country, girls swimming, dance team and rally squad...will open their practices on Monday, Aug. 22.
Story added that all athletes must purchase ASB cards, as well, before they will be allowed to participate. The cards, at a cost of $30, can be purchased at her Harrison Middle School office.
Parents seeking additional information can contact Story at 836-3228.
