The Salvation Army has a recruitment drive underway. But it's not soldiers who are needed, rather it is bell ringers that are being sought.
Lower Valley residents willing to serve as bell ringers outside the Sunnyside Walmart and Bi-Mart stores, or at the Safeway grocery store in Grandview, are asked to contact Salvation Army officials at 882-2584.
The Salvation Army bell ringers will be soliciting donations from shoppers at the three stores on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays, from Nov. 27 through Dec. 22. The bell ringers will be at the stores from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Wednesdays and Fridays, and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays.
The Salvation Army is hoping enough volunteers sign up to serve as bell ringers this coming holiday season. If there is a shortage of volunteers, there is a limited budget set aside to hire bell ringers to fill in at the different posts.
