Henry Bogert, 88, a long-time Sunnyside resident went to be with his heavenly Father on Sunday, May 3, 2009.
He was born April 4, 1921 in Hedel, Holland, the son of Herbert and Woutera (Ottenvanger) Bogert.
Following his education Henry served in the U. S. Marine Corps from 1942 to 1945.
On Nov. 14, 1945 he married Jeanette deJoode in Sunnyside.
Henry farmed for many years and was later employed as a real estate agent.
He cherished time with his family and spent many ours braiding rope and playing the harmonica.
He was a member of the United Reformed Church.
Henry is survived by his wife, Jeanette Bogert of Sunnyside; two daughters, Karen Haroldson of Spokane and Sharon Schinkelshoek of Prosser; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Marie Duim of Grandview and Jeanette Mitzel of Randall.
Henry was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Pete, Morris and Walt Bogert; and one sister, Wilma.
Viewing and visitation will be held today, May 6, 2009, from 1 to 5 p.m. at Smith Funeral Home in Sunnyside. Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 7, 2009, at 1:30 p.m. at Smith Funeral Home in Sunnyside. Burial with military honors will follow at Lower Valley Memorial Gardens in Sunnyside.
