Belen Barbosa Olveda, 71, of Grandview died Monday, March 20, 2006, at Kadlec Medical Center, Richland.
She was born May 14, 1934 in Edcouch, Texas to Agapito and Aurora (Villalpando) Barbosa. She received her education in Weslaco, Texas, where she met and later married Hilario Olveda on April 16, 1951. They moved to Grandview in 1966. She worked for Sunnyside Senior Chore Service.
She is survived by her husband, Hilario Olveda of Grandview; three daughters, Silvia Olveda Alvarez (Enrique) of Grandview, Celia Olveda (Feliciano) of Zillah and Cecilia Martin (Doug) of Moxee; one son, Hymie Olveda (Jan) of Sumner; five grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and five brothers, Antonio Barbosa, Arturo Barbosa, Ray Barbosa, Juan Barbosa, all of Weslaco, and Santiago Barbosa of Ariz.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers; and two sisters.
Viewing and visitation will be held Thursday, March 23, 2006, from noon to 8 p.m. with a Rosary to be recited at 6 p.m. at Smith Funeral Home, Grandview. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, March 24, 2006, at 10 a.m. at the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, Grandview. Burial will be held at Grandview Cemetery under the direction of Smith Funeral Home.
