Jess C. Anthony, 86, a long-time Sunnyside resident died Tuesday, July 18, 2006, at Life Care Center in Auburn.
He was born Aug. 21, 1919 in Le Roy, Kan., the son of Dewey and Anna (McKusker) Anthony. After graduation from high school in 1937, he moved to Sunnyside. On October of 1940 he married Lorraine Yates in Sunnyside. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He was employed at the Carnation Plant for 40 years, retiring in 1981. His wife, Lorraine, died in 1976. In 1985 Jess married Rosalie Roten in Seattle.
He is survived by his daughters, Joanne Carney of Everett and Mary Morales and husband, Lou, of Prosser; daughter-in-law, Denise Anthony of Anchorage, Alaska; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; one brother, Lee Anthony of Kansas; a sister, Mildred Lowrimore of Texas; one stepson; a stepdaughter-in-law, seven stepgrandchildren, 10 stepgreat-grandchildren, and three stepgreat-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lorraine Anthony; one son, Jack Anthony, in 2003; a brother, Dale Anthony; two stepsons; and one stepgrandchild.
Memorial funeral services will be held Saturday, July 22, 2006, at 1:30 p.m., at Smith Funeral Home Chapel, Sunnyside. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Life Care Center of Auburn, in care of Smith Funeral Home, 528 S. 8th Street, Sunnyside, WA, 98944.
