Patricia A. "Pat" Young, 74, of Newport and a long-time Sunnyside resident passed away Friday, Feb. 3, 2006, at Newport Hospital.
Pat was born March 5, 1931 in Marysville, Kansas, the daughter of Wayne R. and Nellie (Scoville) Pauley. She received her education in Marysville and graduated with the class of 1949. On Aug. 12, 1949 she married Arvine Young in Maryville. In 1956 Arvine and Pat moved to Sunnyside, where Pat drove school bus for the Sunnyside School District for more than 20 years.
She enjoyed camping, bowling and playing slot machines at the casino. Pat cherished time spent with her kids and grandchildren. Arvine and Pat adopted grandson, C.J. at the age of five and many special years were shared together.
Pat is survived by her husband of 56 years, Arvine Young of Newport; three daughters, Debra Young and companion, Victor Farnham, of Blanchard, Idaho, Stacy Sutton and husband, Mike, of Cle Elum and Sherri Hunt and husband, Bill, of Newport; six grandchildren; and two brothers, Roland Pauley of Yakima and Wayne Pauley and wife, Donna, of Sunnyside.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Steven; and one sister, Nora Lee Pauley.
Viewing and visitation will be held Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2006, from noon to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2006, at 11 a.m. at Smith Funeral Home, Sunnyside. Burial will be at Sunnyside Cemetery under the direction of Smith Funeral Home.
