DONACIANA O. FLORES
Donaciana O. “Donna” Flores, 75, of Prosser and a long-time Sunnyside resident passed away Tuesday, April 5, 2005, at Prosser Memorial Hospital.
Donna was born Sept. 6, 1929 in Weslaco, Texas, the daughter of Natalia Olivarez and Francisco Mata.
She received her education in Texas. On Oct. 21, 1946 she married Heraclio E. Flores at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Sunnyside. Heraclio and Donna made their home in Sunnyside until moving to Prosser in the late 1970s. Her husband, Heraclio, passed away on Nov. 27, 1987. Donna continued to make Prosser her home until the time of her death.
Donna enjoyed gardening, cooking and her friends and cherished time spent with her grand, great and great-great-grandchildren.
Her faith was a very important part of her life.
She is survived by eight children, David Flores and wife, Aurora, of Sunnyside, Heraclio Flores Jr. and wife, Esmeralda, of Battle Ground,
Wally Flores and wife, Becky, of Sunnyside, Joseph Flores of Prosser, Mary Jane Anciso of Yakima, Georgia Saavedra and husband, Mauricio, of Grandview, Rosie Winders and husband, David, of Tacoma and Nelda Flores of
Bickleton; 19 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by seven siblings, Juan Aguilar, Isabel Fernandez and Olivia Salinas, all of Sunnyside, Gilbert Olivarez, Abel Olivarez, Manuel Olivarez and Josie Pina, all of Fresno, Calif.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; an infant daughter, Maria Natalia Flores; and one brother, Ascencion Olivarez.
Viewing and visitation will be held Thursday, April 7, 2005, from 4 to 8 p.m. with a Rosary to be recited at 6 p.m. at Smith Funeral Home, Sunnyside. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, April 8, 2005, at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Sunnyside.
Burial will be held at Lower Valley Memorial Gardens, under the direction of Smith Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to honor her memory may contribute to the Union Gospel Mission, Yakima, WA.
